Alexandria is already getting a glimpse of what a large mixed-use project downtown is going to look like.
Hometown builder C.I. Construction is progressing on construction of The Rune, a four-story 72-unit upscale mixed-use building at 319 Broadway St. The $37 million project is the biggest modern residential undertaking in town and possibly the largest development of its kind throughout the county.
The goal is for the project to “blend into the old downtown environment — of the historical nature of the buildings downtown,” said Rob Thompson, president of C.I. Construction and principal of Goodneighbor Properties, which is the developer on the project.
